Ron Eriksen - Immediate Past Chairperson 

Ron grew up in Omaha and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he received a BS in Geology in 1992. Ron worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in a variety of different positions, before and after graduation, for over 8 years in Omaha and on various field assignments. Ron joined the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department in 1999 as an Environmental Engineer II coordinating the special waste program and as an on call emergency responder. In early 2002, Ron was assigned to a new position as a Senior Environmental Health Specialist who coordinates the field operations side of the Health Departments Emergency Response Program.

 

Ron is Certified Hazardous Materials Manager and is a technician level responder with more advanced training in Clandestine Labs, Railcars, WMD, DOT/EPA regulations and reactive materials chemistry. Ron and his wife Kate have been married for 10 years and have one daughter, Anastasia, who is 2 years old, and two goofy cats.

 

Troy Shoemaker - Chairperson

In January of 2008, Troy was appointed Fire Chief for the Alliance Fire Department after spending eleven years with the Scottsbluff Fire Department holding the rank of a Captain/Shift Commander for the last three years. He served as the Scottsbluff Fire Department’s HAZMAT Team Coordinator for almost 10 years.  Troy served in the US Navy holding positions ranging from a firefighter to Chief Fire Officer and also served as a Senior Fire Captain/Interim Fire Chief in Antarctica with the National Science Foundation’s “Operation Deep Freeze”. He is a certified Firefighter, Airport Firefighter, Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector, Fire Officer, EMT and HAZMAT technician. He has two growing boys, Keaton who will be eight in July and Kadin who will be six in May.

 

Loren Uden – Treasurer

Loren Uden currently serves as the Adams County Emergency Management Director.  He and his wife, Lori, have one son, Jacob, age 7.  Not only does Loren serve as treasurer for NHMA, but he also instructs EMS, NIMS, and CERT classes.  He also has served as the President of the Nebraska Association of Emergency Management.  Loren has served as a volunteer firefighter and 911 dispatcher in Adams County.  He has training in HazMat at an Operations Level, and Specialized Technician Level in Anhydrous Ammonia and Chlorine from LSU, and has attended several Homeland Security classes on Bioterrorism and Bombings.  Before becoming Emergency Manager, he worked for Rural Metro Ambulance as an EMT-B Supervisor.  He has been an EMT for 24 years.

  

 

Shelly Boden - Secretary

Shelly Boden is Deputy Director at Adams County Emergency Management and the Central Nebraska Medical Reserve Corp Coordinator. She is Haz-Mat Ops level trained and is a Charter member of NHMA. She also serves on the Adams County LEPC, and is the Vice-President of the Nebraska Association of Emergency Management. Shelly has 3 kids ages 24, 19 and 17.

 

Robert Borer – Member at Large – East of Kearney

 

Jeremy Rechsteiner - Member At Large West of Kearney

I am a member of the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department, doing both EMS and Fire, I am an officer on the Executive Board of the department, and currently serving on the recruitment and retention committee. I have Haz-Mat ops level training and have attended several symposiums and classes related to Haz-Mat. I am a member of NHMA, am serving on the education and training committee, and recently been elected to the Executive board as Member at Large West of Kearney. I have been married to my wife, Pam, for 16 years. We have a 20 year old daughter, Amber, who is currently serving in the U.S Navy and a 13 year old son, Jared.

 

Darin Clark - Vice Chairman

I am originally from Lincoln and after completing an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science Technology at Southeast Community College, I served 5 years as a firefighter for Southwest Rural Volunteer Fire District, south of Lincoln.  I moved to Hastings in 1992 when the Hastings Fire Department offered me a position as a career firefighter.

 

In 1999 I was promoted to Fire Lieutenant and then in 2000, to Fire Captain.  I am also a certified firefighter, fire service instructor, EMT-B, and Haz-Mat technician.  I also serve as a Critical Incident Stress Management Peer Debriefer, a Child Passenger Safety Technician & Instructor, and have completed Paramedic training.  I have been married for almost 16 years to Tina, and we have two boys, Jacob age 8 and Caleb age 4.
